With hardship comes ease

I often heard that life is like a journey on a train which it fills with lots of people, some of them we know, some we don't. Some are close to us, while the other some, we did not even know their name or their existence. In that journey, it did not go as smooth as we want it to be and eventually, we will go through hardships at some point of the journey.

The train will stop at a respective station and that is when sometimes people leave us and are being replaced by someone new. Sadly, we cannot stop anyone from leaving, but we can appreciate every single moment we have with them throughout the journey.

Here the relevancy, it might be saddening on the fact that we are losing someone, someday. This principle also applies to material things as well, such as our clothes, our career, our plan, our goals. We might lose them in a split second, we don't know and will never know. Nothing here will last. Our laughter will be replaced with tears tomorrow morning or maybe tonight. The good news will turn out bad in some ways.

But still, nothing lasts.

" Verily, with hardship comes ease" (94:5)

Hamka once stated in one of his books entitled Merantau ke Deli, he said that "sebab itulah maka tak usah kita menangis di waktu mendaki, sebab di balik puncak perhentian pendakian itu telah menunggu daerah yang menurun....."

From my point of view, he impliedly saying that our action of climbing is the hardship that we need to go through to get to the peak. The peak is our accomplishment. If we stay at that peak, that is our comfort zone and we will have no improvement. But, if we decide to continue our journey, our way down will be the easy part of our life. He continues by saying that, after the way down from that peak, there will be another hill that we need to climb and this kind of journey will never end.

Personally, I love how this interpretation work. In the Quran verse, it stated that hardship and ease are together. With the hardship, there is ease. That hardship or test are sometimes given as a warning, as a safeguard, as the finishing line of our never-ending disappointment or as any other grounds which actually good for us, where Allah SWT knows the reason behind it.

Since school, I have this one life philosophy where I believe that all these failures or disappointment or bad events occurred only to safe me and I believe that these things happen in order to put me in a better place than before. It is easy to comfort myself on the matters that whatever is happening surrounding me are good for me, but the hardest part is to accept that Allah's giving is not always in the form I think I want.

Trust me, we shall be grateful for every hardship. Sometimes, that way, we appreciate things/persons better than before. With that also, we tend to realise that we have no control over the people, we can not dictate anyone or anything. They will cease from our side when it is the right time to go.

Appreciate those test, besides, it will not last as well.
