Day 20: The appearance of selflessness

There is always a good thing amid conflict - it will make us realise, learn and understand more about life and most importantly; about ourself. Under this kind of situation that put almost every single soul live in absolute worries, we could discover the real you, the real us.

Whether the act of ours put someone else in a more vulnerable, dangerous and difficult situation or does our action put ease (at least a little) in the mind of someone else? Indeed everyone is facing difficulties and hardships, yet does our act benefitted us alone or do we have some thoughts on how we behave could affect someone else as well?

That is when we could discover how selfless or selfish we are.

I admit that I kind of pissed off a little bit in the first week of MCO as I could see some people make a panic buying, being ignorant about their own health condition, dare to say that they are healthy without going through the actual process of checkup (self-diagnosed) and being stubborn by not complying with the order given by the authorities. How can we become a first-class country when cannot even understand a simple order? - This action leads to a serious condition or may become severe if we keep ignoring the order.

Do you remember on the day of Hijrah from Mecca to Medina and these Muslims have no place to sleep and no food to eat. Hence, Surah Al-Hashr verse 9;

"And those who, before them, had homes and had adopted the Faith, love those who emigrate to them, and have no jealousy in their breasts for that which they have been given and give them preference over themselves, even though they were in need of that. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, such are they who will be successful."

In this Surah, Allah SWT praises the Ansar for their selflessness. They provide their wealth to the emigrants even though they know that these emigrants have no money to pay off whatever things that have been given. These past few days we could see some people are being selfish as they want the best for themselves but not for others. They do not care about the hardship of some people who earn a little number of wages to be compared with them who earn thousands and millions in a month.

It might be unfair if I say that the wealthy do not encounter hardship, yes they did as well but some of them forget that this situation affects the whole nation. It affects those people who live in poverty the most as they lose the source of income absolutely. They might not have eaten rice for a few days now. If you are reading this and still have food to eat - be grateful love. That the least and easiest task yet not everyone able to do it.

Indeed, this pandemic is a test for all

There is a reward for those who remain patient, selfless and husnudzon towards this all situation. If I were to look for the good in this situation, I could say Allah SWT is rewarding those who remain patient, who keep believing in Him and who help those in need. In Surah Al-Furqan verse 75: Allah SWT promise that;

"These servants will be rewarded with the highest place in Paradise for what they patiently endured. There they will be met with greetings and peace."

Also, Prophet Muhammad PBUH said as reported in Sahih Muslim as;

"He who removes from a believer one of his difficulties of this world, Allah will remove one of his troubles on the Day of Resurrection"
By being selfless, does not always mean to give something. By avoiding any activity that could harm someone else or that could put other people in a more difficult situation also regarded as "removed from a believer one of his difficulties"

I hope and pray that everyone is doing good, remain grateful and positive throughout this rmo even though this situation could be panicking us. Have faith, keep moving, start learning and adapt this whole new concept of teaching, learning, working and handling the household. I wish u all the best and in good health always insha'Allah. Stay safe, stay home and stay healthy.

Assalamualaikum warrahmatullah.
